Free wifi for expats and Costa Ricans
Cost-conscious expat retirees can now save money by taking advantage of ‘free’ Internet access in many areas of the country. The Costa Rican government is in the process of installing wifi in parks, plazas, train stations, and 61 public libraries. In addition, 100,000 thousand university students will have access to this service.
The service is available 24 hours a day with 100Mbps access speed, and security filters to block out pornography and violent content.
All one has to do is find a white sign that says “Zii WIFI” in red letters to connect to the free wifi.
To connect the following instructions:
- Activate the wifi on you phone and select the network Zii_para_todos
- Go to the navigator and access the home page.
- Accept the terms
- Enjoy the internet free in public places mentioned above
This is just one of the many services that make Costa Rica a user-friendly country for expats.
