A lot of activities for expats this weekend
No reason to be bored while living in Costa Rica. Just look at some of the activities enjoyed by Costa Ricans and expats the weekend of May 5-7.. This is a sample of what was available around the country but mostly in the Central Valley. Many activities a Free for expat retirees on a tight budget.
- For less than $10 USD there was live theater at the National University (UNA)
- The National Symphony Orchestra and The Guitar Quartet performed together on Sunday May 7 and for free at the Santa María de Dota Temple.
- The National Museum also had free activities on Sunday May 7.
- The Spanish Embassy sponsored a concert with musicians from Spain at the National Theater in San José.
- At the Paseo de las Flores Mall in Heredia, a concert band from the city of Cartago gave a free concert.
- The weekend also had its fill of live soccer (called fútbol here) games for a low cost of admission. Admission is ridiculously cheap when compared to sporting events in the U.S. and Canada. Furthermore, you do not have to pay for parking since public buses to and from the matches is affordable.
- All of Costa Rica’s shopping malls are opened every weekend. Food courts offer a variety of choices for almost every taste.
- A Wine Festival for connoisseurs was held in the town of Curridabat featuring a huge variety of entertainment, wine at discount prices, wine tasting, lectures and culinary activities
- At the old Aduana (customs house), just east of San José, hosted coffee fair. Sixty exhibitors participated. Many coffee-based products were available. For example, one company even offered exfoliants composed made from coffee.
