A Reader’s Testimonial
First, I am very happy to have found your site. It is informative and interesting. My husband and I moved to CR last year. I’m 70 and he is 83. We live above Lake Arenal in the rainforest. It did take awhile to get used to the bugs and rain.
Due to medical bills from the US for both our cancer treatments, we have to live on $500 a month. This was a major reason for the move; we couldn’t afford to live in the US. We pay $200 a month for rent. It’s a tico house, yet a bit nicer than truly tico. We are within walking distance of a small grocery store, the feria (farmers market), and the bus stop is across the street. We wake up to monkeys, cattle, chickens and trucks. The view from the kitchen window is of hummingbirds and toucans. We visited CR over the past 20 years and wish very much we had moved sooner. Hopefully immigration will reopen soon (Covid-19) and our residency applications will move forward. Want a tip? Move now! Or rather, when the border opens to the US.
