I have been blogging since 2012, and they’ve been an incredible help for those thinking of moving here. Some moved elsewhere since and still read them. I’m sure you don’t want to be one of those to move back again too soon. Here are a few tips to start with.

1. Slow down, and start enjoying life.
2. Yes, some of us have a different mindset.
3. Don’t get involved with politics anymore. You now live here.
4. Accept the fact that we’re not all as smart as you are.
5. Learn one Spanish word a day. Show that you are a great guest of the country by learning their language.
6. Don’t treat the locals poorly; they’re humans too.
7. Be patient, bring a book.
8. Don’t be arrogant or ignorant.
9. Trust your instinct.
10. Do not run when you don’t like something; learn and adapt.
11. Don’t complain about everything on Facebook.
12. Be happy!
